Advertorial · A reader's story, retold by Emily Johnson
“My husband left me for the woman who leads worship at our church. He said at least when she lifts her hands, she means it. He was right.”
Jess is 38. She sat in the same church for 19 years and never felt one thing in that room. Two years after he left, a 74-year-old woman in the prayer room told her why. It wasn't her faith. It wasn't her. Here's what Lorraine put in her hands.

It was the bridge of the song. Three thousand hands went up in that room, and for the first time in two years, Jess's wouldn't.
Her husband Cole ran the sound board. The booth was empty. So she walked to the room behind the stage where the worship team prays before service. The door wasn't closed.
The woman who had held their daughter at her dedication, in front of 1,200 people, had her hands around his neck.
That night Jess went through his phone. The top message was from Kayla. “She doesn't even feel it, Cole. She just stands there with her arms up.” And under it, from her husband: “I know. At least when you lift them you mean it.”
He was right about one thing. Jess had sat in that church for 19 years and never once felt anything. He was wrong about why. This is how she found out.
Jess was the one doing everything right
✕19 years of SundaysSection C, every week, through two babies and a mortgage.
✕“Lift them anyway”Pastor Dale's answer: “Feelings come and go. Faith is a decision. God honors the step.” Two years with her arms in the air like a woman in a holdup. Felt nothing. Cried. Everybody thought it was the good kind.
✕The whole Bible, cover to coverRead through in the balcony after he left.
✕Baptized again at 36Came up out of the water and felt the water.
Everybody around her had an answer. Pray about it. Keep coming. God restores marriages. So she kept coming. For 7 months she sat in that building and watched the woman who took her husband lead 3,000 people with her eyes closed, while her husband mixed her voice. She moved to the balcony. Her hands shook. She lost 9 pounds. Her 6-year-old told her she only moves her mouth when they sing.
And she decided the problem was her.
“It was never hidden from you. It was never shown to you.”
Nine days after the baptism, Lorraine asked her one question. Lorraine is 74. She runs the prayer room, and when she prays the room goes quiet. Jess had spent two years envying her for it.
“Why are you still in that balcony?”
“Marcy says God restores marriages.” Jess was quoting the pastor's wife and didn't know it.
Lorraine put her Bible on the table and her finger on Matthew 19. “Except for sexual immorality. You're allowed.”
“I just read that whole book.”
“It was never hidden from you. It was never shown to you. I kept my hands down for 31 years before I knew why.”
So Jess told her the truth. Nineteen years. Not one time. “I read about people in that book God talked to. Where is any of that in my life? How do you have what I don't have?”
Lorraine didn't answer that. She asked a question instead. “Which translation do you read?”
“Does it matter?”
“No. If you bought a Bible in America, you're holding 66 books. There are 88.”
“Somebody stripped books out of it. Not God. Men.”
“You seriously believe God would let His own Word be censored?”
“No. He wouldn't. So He didn't let it happen everywhere. He let it happen here.”Lorraine, to Jess
The 1611 King James had 80 books. In 1826 a Bible society in London stopped printing 14 of them, and within a generation “the Bible” meant 66. Ethiopia never cut a single book. The church there has read all 88 since before there was an England.
Lorraine said look it up, so Jess did. On her phone, standing on the church steps. In 1947 a shepherd boy found a cave above the Dead Sea with the book of Isaiah in it. Whole. Five years later they dug out another cave down the road. In the dirt: Enoch, 11 copies. Jubilees, 15. More copies than most books of her Old Testament. Copied before Jesus was born.
She sat down on the step.
“You have spent 19 years trying to feel a God whose own words you have never read. You were handed the part that says He is there. Somebody kept the part that tells you how to come close.”Lorraine
“There is nothing wrong with the one in your hand. It's just not all of it.”
She had one in her bag
An Ethiopian Bible, from Faith Made. Eighty-eight books. Enoch. Jubilees. Every book they stripped, put back. “They flew to Ethiopia, where the church never cut a single book, and brought it back word for word. Where yours says Lord, it prints Yahweh. And the print is bigger than most Bibles.”
Then Lorraine wrote two references on the back of the bulletin and put it in Jess's hand. “Read these tonight. They'll tell you why your hands wouldn't go up.”
Two books, two jobs
The one that names itSirach 2In the 1611 King James. Cut in 1826.“Woe to fearful hearts, to faint hands, and to the sinner who goes two ways.” The thing Jess had hidden for 19 years had a name. In print. In a book they stripped. And the same chapter tells you what to do about it: “Cling to Him, and do not depart.”
The one that cures itJubilees 1Never in your Bible. Kept in Ethiopia. 15 copies in the Dead Sea caves.God Himself talking. “They will seek me and find me. I shall become their Father, while they become My children.” Not a verse about Him. Him.
Most “Ethiopian Bibles” sold online have neither book inside. Lorraine's rule: count the books on the contents page before you pay for anything. If it doesn't say 88, it isn't.
✕ The cheap kind66 books in a gold cover. Enoch and Jubilees missing from the contents page. “Lord” where the Hebrew says Yahweh. Print you need a magnifying glass for.
✓ What Lorraine carried88 numbered books, Enoch and Jubilees inside. Prints Yahweh. Print bigger than most Bibles. Word for word from Ethiopia. Sold direct by Faith Made, ships from California and Pennsylvania.
“I don't need another Bible. I need a new church.”
That's what Jess said. Lorraine didn't argue. The book sat on Jess's passenger seat for 6 days.
The 7th night she couldn't sleep, so she went out to the car.
Watch what two chapters did over six weeks
Week 1Sirach 2, twice, on the kitchen floor. Faint hands. She was angry that the cure was that short.
Week 2Jubilees 1. She started praying out loud, by name. Not to the ceiling.
Week 3Slept through the night for the first time in 7 months. That Thursday she filed.
Week 4The anger went. Jonah, 6: “You made a sound this time.”
Week 5Nineteen years in a church, and the first morning she understood what she was reading.
Week 6She came down out of the balcony. Section C. Bridge of the song. Her hands went up before she decided it. Kayla was 30 feet away on that stage, and she saw it.
Illustrative experience. A Bible doesn't promise feelings on a schedule. What readers most often tell us changes first is that they finally understand what they're reading. Experiences vary.
Three years later. Row nine.
Easter. Jess went back with her mother on one side, her new husband on the other, a man who reads Jubilees to the kids at the table, and Ava in the middle, 11 years old. Kayla still leads worship. Cole still mixes her voice. Pastor Dale said what he always says: “If you're not feeling anything this morning, lift them anyway. God honors the step.”
Ava leaned over. “Mom. What if I don't feel anything?”
The first thing out of Jess's mouth was lift them anyway. She heard herself say it to her own daughter and stopped in the middle of the sentence. Her husband opened the book on his knee and put it in her hands.
“Faint hands have a name. And they have a cure. And it's in the part of the Bible nobody ever gave me. He said He would become your Father. You don't lift your hands to feel Him. You read Him. And then your hands lift themselves.”Jess, to Ava
She talked for 2 minutes and Ava didn't look away once. When Jess took her finger off the verse and looked up, Kayla was looking at her from the stage.

Before you order: four honest answers
Jess asked Lorraine the same four questions on the church steps.
Is it legit?Open the contents page: 88 numbered books, Enoch and Jubilees inside, a printed copyright page. Then run the ten-second check Lorraine gave her. Your Bible quotes Enoch in Jude 14. Open Enoch 1:9 in this one. Same words. More than 100,000 orders have shipped from California and Pennsylvania, and real people answer the support email.
Is there something wrong with the Bible I have? No. “There is nothing wrong with the one in your hand. It's just not all of it.” The 66 books you know are in here, plus the 22 that were cut. Where yours prints Lord, this one prints Yahweh.
Is this a subscription trap? The Bible is a one-time purchase. Nothing about the book renews. The optional Faith Made app, with the eBook and audio, starts with a free trial and renews after it; that's shown plainly before you pay, and you can cancel anytime.
What if it doesn't change anything?Every order has a 365-day money-back guarantee. Read it for a year. If it isn't for you, return it in good condition for a full refund (you cover return shipping).
